PA 2026-2028 Core: Protecting Consumer Property and Confidential Information

Every transaction you handle involves more than contracts—it involves trust. When consumer funds, property access, and confidential information are in your hands, even small missteps can lead to serious risk.

Real estate practice requires careful management of money, documents, access, and confidential details that directly affect negotiations. This course shows how routine activities like handling earnest money, overseeing showings, discussing pricing, and navigating alternative financing can create compliance risks if not handled correctly.

You’ll learn how Pennsylvania law applies to these situations and how to make sound decisions that protect your clients, your license, and the public. By strengthening your understanding of escrow procedures, property oversight, and confidentiality standards, you’ll reduce risk, build client trust, and support fair, ethical transactions.

This two-hour mandatory course meets the Pennsylvania Real Estate Commission’s requirements for the 2026–2028 Core course, Protecting Consumer Property and Confidential Information.

Course highlights include:

  • Review the most common compliance risks related to handling consumer funds and property
  • Gain clarity on Pennsylvania escrow requirements and how they apply in day-to-day transactions
  • Explore practical approaches for managing showings and open houses while protecting consumer property
  • Understand how to safeguard keys, lockboxes, and other access tools used in real estate practice
  • Examine how confidentiality obligations apply in routine conversations and client interactions
  • Learn how to communicate pricing and negotiate effectively without disclosing sensitive information
  • Identify situations where confidentiality risks can impact your client’s position in a transaction
  • Recognize how alternative financing arrangements can introduce additional compliance considerations
  • Reinforce sound decision-making strategies that support compliant and ethical practice
  • Apply concepts through realistic examples and activities that reflect everyday real estate scenarios

AI in Real Estate: Usage, Oversight, and Scam Awareness

From marketing and advertising to client communication and transaction management, Artificial Intelligence (AI) is rapidly becoming part of everyday real estate practice. With these tools come new responsibilities for licensees to ensure accuracy, fairness, and consumer protection. This course provides a clear framework for understanding how AI intersects existing laws, professional duties, and brokerage policies.

Learners will explore how AI tools can both support and endanger real estate practice. Topics include applying fair housing and advertising rules to AI-generated content, maintaining confidentiality and trust in client communications, and evaluating the risks of AI-assisted contracts and workflow automation. The course also highlights emerging fraud threats, such as deepfake impersonation and AI-generated phishing, and equips licensees with a five-step checklist to spot scams and protect clients.

By the end of the course, licensees will be able to confidently integrate AI tools into practice while upholding compliance, safeguarding consumers, and supporting brokerage-level risk management.
